Uptown Kitchen
This was a creative and exciting project. The homeowners had an arts and crafts style home in the Uptown area with a terrible 80's "do it yourself" kitchen. They wanted a sleek modern kitchen with refined design elements, that also respected the houses historic style. The solution was to remove the wall between dining room and kitchen and remove the wall between the pantry and a mudroom/entry way. This opened up the floor plan and made room for a new patio door centered on a widened pantry. The fridge moved into the expanded pantry area and all of the kitchen functions were consolidated into a central island. The island measures five feet square and is made of oak to match the built ins in the dining room. The surface is Corian with the oven, cooktop, dishwasher and sink all built in. This means a 360 degree work surface with all the storage moved into the pantry area. The pantry cabinets looking south are all original. The pantry cabinets looking north we fabricated and finished to match the original cabinets.
The exterior of this house was also sandblasted and re stuccoed and got new galvanized half round gutters and wood storm doors to enhance it's historic charm.
