Basement Remodel

This project was to create a family room and home office in a South Minneapolis basement. We framed and insulated the basement as well as adding some sound proofing. These photos aren't the best, but you can just make out the gas fireplace we installed. The customer wanted a lot of shelving for books and an entertainment center, as well as a home office area. We built maple cabinets for the office and entertainment center areas. It's hard to tell from these pictures, but those are solid maple shelves that run over twenty feet along one wall of the basement. We had a solid walnut mantlepiece and desktop fabricated as well. The over all look is modern and the room feels cozy and warm with the fire going. This project added a lot of useable space to the house without encroaching on the more traditional atmosphere of the upper floor where a modern entertainment center and family room would have looked out of place.
